Accept Your Invitation

To get started, you should have a TeamSnap invitation sent to you by an administrator for your team or sports organization. If you went through registration to join a sports organization, you will not need an invitation and can skip this section. Depending upon whether or not you've used TeamSnap before, your invitation may be handled in a couple of different ways. Check out our help article for info on how your invitation will be handled and instructions on how to accept: Accepting a Team Invitation.

*Spoiler alert*: It will be automagically accepted if you already have an account, and if you don't have an account, you create one!

Get to Know Your Dashboards

Once you’ve been added to your team in TeamSnap, you’ll log in and access your TeamSnap dashboard. This is where you access and manage your account and all the teams you are affiliated with.

The My Teams section of your TeamSnap dashboard will display any teams your account has been rostered to. Access your team dashboard by clicking your name below your team name under the My Teams section. Any and all information about your team, schedule, messaging and more will be viewable through the team dashboard.

Quick Start Checklist

✔ Customize Your Notification Preferences

  1. Log into your TeamSnap account
  2. Click your team name under My Teams in your TeamSnap Dashboard
  3. Click the Preferences tab
  4. Under Notifications, set your preferences for how you'd like to receive alerts. We recommend leaving the settings as they are, but you can always adjust things like how far in advance you receive game reminders.

✔ Sync your schedule

Many TeamSnap users like to sync their TeamSnap schedules to their personal calendar to have even greater visibility into upcoming games and events. If you have a calendar that you'd like to add your TeamSnap events to, just follow the steps in our article about how to subscribe to a team schedule.

✔ Update Availability

A few days before each game, you’ll get an email asking if you’re available or not. Make sure to click Yes, No, or Maybe, so your coach has an accurate headcount for the game.

Note: This feature is only available for teams on a paid plan. If your team is on the Free plan, the team plan will need to be upgraded by the team owner.

✔ Check for volunteer tasks

Head over to the Assignments tab to view any available assignments for your upcoming scheduled events. When you find one you’d like to claim, just check the sign-up box next to that task!

✔ Try TeamSnap Live!, Team chat, and Direct/Group Messaging

Want to provide live scoring updates, share pictures, and talk about the action with your team in real time? When using either of our mobile apps, you can use the Team Chat feature to communicate with other members any time, and separate event chats (TeamSnap Live!) will open up during game and event times for everyone to stay up-to-date in real-time! You also have the option of creating direct messages with one or more people all on our mobile apps!

Using Team Chat

If there’s a rainout or a last-minute field change, want to coordinate a carpool, or tell everyone where the celebratory pizza party is happening, this is the place to do it. Team members automatically have access to Team Chat and will be able to view previous messages.

Post a Chat Message

  1. Open the TeamSnap app
  2. Tap your team name
  3. Tap the Messages tab
  4. Tap Chat (iOS) or select Chats from the dropdown (Android)
  5. Tap the Team Chat
  6. Tap into the "Type a Message" field and enter your message
  7. Tap the send icon

Tip: You can use emoji reactions in team chat for quick replies and to conduct polls.

Update Your Chat Name

The name that appears in team chat is the name associated with your account name. If you'd like to change the name that appears in chat you'll want to update your account information. Once you've done that, just log out of the mobile app and log in again. If you have the latest version of the mobile app installed, the next time you post in team chat, your updated name will appear.

Delete a Chat Message

A team member can delete only messages they have posted, while a team manager can delete any message posted in Team Chat.

  1. Long press (tap and hold) the message
  2. Tap Delete in the options that appear
iOS version:                                                                               Android version:

Attention: Season archiving does not remove or delete Team Chat messages. Team Chat messages cannot be bulk deleted.

Mute or Unmute a Chat

The chat muting feature allows you to control the chat conversations that you are notified of. By default, chat notifications are on and you'll use the mute feature within the chat to turn off notifications.

  1. Open the TeamSnap app
  2. Tap your team name
  3. Tap the Messages tab
  4. Tap Chat (iOS) or select Chats from the dropdown (Android)
  5. Tap the Team Chat or Group or Direct Message
  6. In the upper right corner tap the bell icon to mute the conversation
    1. Options for muting are for 2 hours, 4 hours, Until Tomorrow, Until I Unmute
    2. To unmute tap the slashed bell icon

Push notifications need to be enabled on your device for the TeamSnap app in order to receive push notifications.

Using Chat Reactions for Team Polls

Need to survey your team to see who wants to go to Dairy Queen? Maybe you need to gauge interest in switching Tuesday practice to another weekday and want to know which day works best for your players? Try out chat reactions as a polling option and get the answers you are looking for! Chat reactions are available in the latest version of the TeamSnap mobile app on iOS and Android when using team chat or direct/group messaging. Here's how polling with reactions can work:

Yes/No Polling

Post a Yes/No question and ask members to react with either 👍 or 👎.

Screenshot of team chat with emoji reactions.

Multiple Choice Polling

Pose your question in chat with instructions for members to react with a specific emoji (there are six options available) to correspond to the answer they want to give

Each reaction that is added will display the number of times it has been selected. You can also tap the reaction icon below or long press the message (tap and hold) and tap View Reactions to see who reacted and which emoji they reacted with.
